“As one studies case histories of growing churches, there is one reoccurring factor—they are all praying churches.” Eddie Gibbs, as quoted in “Growth By Accident, Death by Planning” by Dr. Bob Whitesel.
A study of churches that were growing found that URGENCY IN PRAYER IS DUE TO A POTENTIAL FOR FAILURE. They are afraid that if they don’t pray, they will fail. Many times our urgent prayer is due to a financial crisis, a conflict crisis, or some other crisis. What would happen if our churches feared they would not reach the lost, so they prayed because they feared failure? Whitesel says, “Security in circumstances robs prayer of it urgency. Don’t wait for a crisis to reinvigorate the prayer life of a church. Consider the enormity and significance of the task you are undertaking: The Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20).”
Let me tell you a little “”secret….Many churches in North America ARE in a crisis, we need God to intervene. We must be urgently praying. Why not start now?
