HAPPY NEW YEAR!

“…do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”  Isaiah 43:18-19

Sometimes we think of a new year as a time of forgetting the painful things of the past:  failures, hurts, disappointments, unfulfilled dreams, loss etc.  While it is important to put these things behind us and move on, this verse reminds us that we are also to put the good things we experienced behind us.  God was reminding the people that it was he who had delivered them from Pharaoh, and created a great story to tell their children.  Yet, God knew that dwelling on the past would be detrimental to their experiencing his dream for them in the present.  To many times remembering and dwelling on the past can be painful, discouraging, our focus, even our point of victory.  But God is a God that wants to do a “new thing” in our lives.  He thought it necessary to remind us that in order to fully realize the “new thing”, we must “not dwell on the past.”

So my first challenge to you this year is to look for, anticipate, and experience the “new thing” that God is doing in your life!  Happy New Year to all of your from the Palmers
